Alain Prost – 1989 – Motorart 27

Alain Prost’s helmet is recognizable for it’s distinct deep blue graphic inspired by the original Ecole de Pilotage Elf-Winfield logo. It’s also recognizable for being worn by the opponent to Ayrton Senna.

The late-80s to early-90s battles they had up-leveled their notoriety as drivers. The colors both drivers adorned became recognizable the world over.

Ayrton Senna – 1991 – Motorart 27

Ayrton Senna’s helmet might be the most recognizable paint scheme in motorsports history. Iconic

helmet artist, Sid Mosca helped create simple, yet striking colors representative of his Brazilian

homeland.

Fellow competitor Martin Brundle said that, “when you saw the flash of yellow in your mirrors during

qualifying, you’d jump out of the way because you didn’t want to be the driver that ruined the lap

everyone wanted to see that weekend.”
